Its Thanksgiving here, and in Canada it is a special time when families and friends come together to express gratitude for the blessings in their lives. It is a celebration of the harvest season and a time to enjoy a delicious feast.

One of the main dishes enjoyed during this festive occasion is turkey with all the trimmings. Plates filled with potatoes, gravy, biscuits, turnip, carrots and turkey dressing are common. I especially love the cranberry sauce to compliment the turkey, some like cranberries, however for me I love the sauce.

Pumpkin Pie is my favorite for dessert, usually so many homemade pies to choose from, apple pie is another favorite of mine with ice cream, but pumpkin is my first choice with whipped cream.

We have always camped on this weekend before closing our camper for winter storage, but this year we opted to stay home the rainy forecast predicted came true so we are grateful for warmth today.

What is your favorite pie with your Thanksgiving dinner?

  1. Pecan. However, I’ve never had a pie I didn’t love. Add whipped or frozen ice cream? Heaven.
